Independent journalist and community activist, David Julian Wightman, was born in Zambia and raised in the Ottawa valley. His first byline appeared in the Ottawa Citizen in 1993 when he was 16-years-old, and ten years later he graduated from so-called-Ryerson University’s School of Journalism with a specialty in magazine writing. He dedicates this exposé to his fellow workers in scrubs, and to his personal heroes, Julian Assange, Chelsea Manning, and Edward Snowden.
